- In Nevada, no deduction is made
from workers' wages to finance the Unemployment Insurance (UI)
program. It is paid entirely by employers who are liable for
coverage under the Nevada Revised Statutes. Amounts deducted
from workers' wages for Social Security do not help pay for the UI
program.

Pacific Time, your claim will begin the prior Sunday. Example: You
complete your application and receive a confirmation on Saturday at
11:45 pm Pacific Time. Your claim will be effective the prior Sunday.
If you complete your application and receive a confirmation on Sunday
at 1:10 am Pacific Time, your claim will begin on that

Nevada's method of payment is a prepaid debit card. See example
pictured to the right:
Paper checks will be discontinued as of March 15, 2013. All
individuals receiving paper checks will be provided with a Visa
debit card in advance. Starting in April 2013, the Employment
Security Division will add the option of having your unemployment
benefits transferred from your debit card directly into your
checking or savings account. Your Nevada Visa Debit card must be used to
establish a direct deposit account. Continued updates regarding the
debit card and the direct deposit option will be posted online at www.expressclaim.org.
Effective December 1, 2012, there is an inactivity fee of $2.50 that
may be applied to your card. If your card has a balance greater than
zero(0) and there has been no activity on the card for twelve(12)
consecutive months, the inactivity fee will be applied to the card.
This inactivity fee will be applied each consecutive month of
inactivity thereafter. If there is a remaining balance on the card
you are strongly encouraged to keep your card active in order to
avoid this fee. When your debit card expires, it is automatically
replaced within 60 days prior to the expiration.
If you have not automatically
received a replacement card prior to the expiration, please contact
the VISA Call Center at (877) 829-4130 or
